“We are the products of our past, but we are not victims of it, unless we choose to be.”
* The clinical psychologist or therapist helps the client realize that he or she is not a victim of his or her circumstances. Although the client might have symptoms, he or she is not defined by his or her symptoms. Every human being can learn to transcend the conditions of his or her life and people can enrich their lives with spiritual meaning despite their individual circumstances. The psychologist aids clients in achieving the openness and flexibility that will enable them to shape their day-to-day lives in a meaningful manner through a creative and evolving process of discovery, thus, clients discover their strengths and find ways to put them to the service of living a purposeful existence.
