Remote Psychological Assessment requires the same factors for validity and reliability similar to in-person assessment. There are many advantages of remote psychological assessment such as bridging the language barrier, because the clients can use their native language, the psychologists can track the subjective mood or anxiety levels of their patients in real-time due to the psychological assessment mobile applications. Administration of remote psychological assessment is also cost-effective and the result of preliminary data of this study suggested that the psychological assessment results gained from remote assessment is similar with results gained from paper-and-pencil assessments.
This study noted that in the future, there will be emerging computer-related virtual reality environment wherein the psychological assessments can be built into virtual environment and the patient will experience simulation to real-world conditions. This can help provide the patient with social or environmental cues on how to react emotionally and behaviorally in dealing with alcohol addiction, panic attack or any psychological disorders. The researchers noted that in the future, there will be virtual intelligent agents that will assist the mental health professionals in assessing psychological and physiological signs and symptoms of the patients.
